I met Saoirse in Davao City, not as an artist but as a nursing student. Then when she moved to UAE, she suddenly became a visual artist. I had no idea that she was hiding her talent and skills back home. Now, I'm glad she's pursuing her passion and continuously honing her skills.
What subjects inspire you?
My most favorite and that inspire me a lot is to paint / draw or sketch a portrait. Basically different emotions that you can see on a persons face. Emotions can depict through facial expressions and with that you don’t have to verbally express what you feel.
What’s the best thing about being an artist?
The best thing about being an artist is I can express my thoughts and create it in my own way. As an artist i love to share my talent to everyone and even teaching it to my friends who are willing to learn.
What’s the hardest part of creating a painting?
The hardest part of creating a painting is to create a full body portrait. I am bad at fingers and body shapes. That’s why i am currently learning about figurative drawing, It’s a tough process but i love challenging myself all the time and i will achieve it soon.
Which artists are you most influenced by?
I have few artists who influenced me to pursue this talent. First was my highschool Adviser, He was my art teacher and he encouraged me to love art. He let me joined art competition at school all the time, second is Van Gogh - I am not good in painting before but by frequently endulged myself through van gogh’s art, I started to paint using acrylic. I remember my first painting on a canvas was an Eagle an it’s still alive hanging on a wall to my sisters room and the last artist who influenced me the most is Jono Dry, I watched all his youtube videos on how he made this stunning graphite hyperrealism drawings, I learned a lot from him and some of his techniques I currently used whenever I make graphite drawings.
How long have you been painting?
I started painting (acrylic) when i was in high school but i totally stop loving art when i reached college because of enjoying myself as fucked up teenager LOL but NO RAGRATS! (Regrets) Then when i reached in Dubai on a year 2017 that was the year i was reborn as an artist. I wasn’t expecting to love it again and now ART is my life. So basically 2017 to present year i guess. I just recently started using oil paints and i am still learning.
What does your artwork represent?
My artwork represents to all human being simply because i love making portraits with different expressions and feelings. You may not know that person behind the painting or drawing that i created but somehow you will reflect on what they currently feel on that art I made.
